Graduation Threshold

Regulations Governing Graduation Thresholds of English Proficiency and Professional Competence Institute of Information and Decision Sciences of National Taipei University of Business

1. Purpose:

The Regulations Governing Graduation Thresholds of English Proficiency and Professional Competence, Institute of Information and Decision Sciences of National Taipei University of Business (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) are established to improve the English proficiency, professional competence and post-graduation competition of students in the Institute of Information and Decision Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) of National Taipei University of Business (hereinafter referred to as NTUB).

2. Subject:

Students in the Institute.

3. Test Standards:

To graduate from the Institute, students in the Institute shall pass the English proficiency test and either A (information) or B (other) certification test stipulated by the Institute (For the classifications of the English proficiency and professional competency, refer to Schedule 1).

4. Implementation:

Students in the Institute shall pass the language test equivalent to the second stage of Intermediate Level of General English Proficiency Test (refer to Schedule 2) and either A or B certification test within the period of study. Those passing the tests shall submit the application form (Schedule 3) and the proof of test results (both original and copy) to the office of the Institute for review one semester prior to graduation.

5. Counseling Measures:

Students in the Institute failing to pass the graduation threshold of the English proficiency within the period specified in the preceding paragraph shall take the 3-hour course (without credit) on English training (organized by the graduation counseling division) before taking an English proficiency test; those still failing to pass the graduation threshold are required to take another two 3-credit courses on English training (excluded from graduation credits). Before taking such courses, students shall submit the Application for Recognition of English Training Courses (Schedule 4) to their departments (institutes) for review. To pass in the courses, the overall result of such courses shall reach 70. Before graduation, the original academic results shall be submitted to the office of the Institute for review and approval.

6. The Regulations apply to students have enrolled since 2016.

7. The Regulations are implemented upon approval of the Institute Curriculum Committee and review of the Curriculum Committee at college and school levels and the academic meeting. The same procedures apply to any amendments to the Regulations.
